Victoria State Emergency Service Emerald Base Redevelopment

Client:
Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority
Architect:
Ardent Architects

As part of the Victorian Government’s $54 million investment in Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) facility infrastructure upgrades, FIMMA Constructions was awarded the contract to deliver a new multi-million dollar fit-for-purpose VICSES facility in Emerald.

Servicing the community since the mid-1980s, the Emerald Base is one of the most active and strategically placed facilities in Victoria, with over 65 dedicated, highly skilled volunteers. In recent years, the Unit has experienced a considerable increase in demand for services, necessitating the need for a new, fit-for-purpose and larger facility.

The completed facility spans over 2,400 SM, with future proofed amenities and equipment to support training, emergency preparations and help recruitment activities. The building includes five motor bays, administrative offices, large training room, wellbeing, and kitchen area for volunteers, first aid training and storage areas, laundry, and large turnout area to facilitate expandable operations during an event. Key inclusions are the high range monopole communications tower and FIMMA delivery of a major five-meter high, structural retaining wall spanning the entire 56-meter rear property line.

The project was delivered by the Emergency Services Infrastructure Authority (ESIA) through the Community Safety Building Authority and was officially opened on November 27th by State Member for Monbulk, Deputy Premier, Hon. James Merlino.
