St Leonard's College Visual Arts Centre

Client:
St Leonard's College
Architect:
Cotter Reid Architects

A repeat client, St Leonard's College, awarded the construction of a new 3 storey Visual Arts Building to FIMMA; intending to create new areas and develop an enhanced educational opportunity for the students. The building areas include space for learning to work with ceramics, textiles, lighting, audio and video in the creation of their art works. These learning spaces are supported by general areas, staff rooms and store rooms.

The Building envelope consists of a bespoke façade structure with aluminium, glass and compressed sheet cladding; while precast panels, suspended concrete floors and structural steel elements provide its framework. A lift and access stairs enable movement throughout the building with ease. While a complex civil works package, consisting of hard and soft landscaping surround the building, enabling a seamless transition to the Future Learning Building.

Following the completion of the Visual Arts Building, the strong working relationship built with St Leonard's College enabled the next stage of works being awarded to FIMMA.
