St Francis De Sales Catholic Primary School Multipurpose Hall

Client:
Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne
Architect:
Baldasso Cortese

Representing stage 4 expansion works at St Francis De Sales Primary School Lynbrook campus, this project was delivered by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) to provide the school community with improved educational facilities and assist with the anticipated growth in student attendance.

The scope of works, in brief, required initial site excavation and cut activities, delivery of new underground services and significant drainage infrastructure, removal and relocation of existing fire hydrants (2), then delivery of the main building works comprising the new multipurpose hall. The building features a large volume gymnasium and basketball court, music classroom, music practice and storage space, meeting room, new school kitchen, multipurpose stage area and associated dedicated storage, accessible DDA ramps, and student amenities.

The scope of works also required the delivery of a new 3.8m wide gravel pathway, connecting to an existing path to the east, reinstatement of several chain mesh fences and gates, then installation of minor planting and landscape works to the west of the new hall.

The majority of underground services and temporary connection works to an existing portable classroom were programmed to occur outside of normal school hours.
