Mount Waverley Secondary College S.T.E.A.M Centre
Funded by The Victorian State Government, through the 2020-21 Infrastructure Planning and Acceleration Fund, FIMMA completed this redevelopment project at Mount Waverley Secondary College to help the College accomplish long-standing planning goals across both their existing Junior and Senior School campuses.
Following a robust post-tender value management and redesign period, in close collaboration with Superintendent Johnstaff Projects, BKK Architects, and other key consultants, FIMMA was awarded this exciting STEAM project (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) located at the Senior School Campus off Lechte Road.
The scope of works required initial demolition activities to remove existing buildings and structures, excavation and site benching works, installation of new underground services for the new building from an existing power supply at the Gordon Rd entrance, then construction of a new, innovative two-storey STEAM Centre.
The new building includes science labs, technology workshops, visual communication and both 2D/3D art studios, multi-purpose classrooms, informal breakout areas, staff offices and storage spaces, DDA compliant lift and circulation spaces, bespoke ground floor courtyard, and extensive additional civil and landscaping works surrounding the new centre.
Additional fire and water services upgrade works along the South and East boundaries of the campus were also required as part of the overall project delivery. These works were programmed to occur predominately during term break periods to avoid disruptions on campus as much as possible.
