Wilson Group Cheltenham Storage Facility Expansion

Wilson Group approached FIMMA Constructions to undertake Design & Construction Management of a proposed extension project at their existing storage facility located on Reserve Rd, Cheltenham.

The initial intention was to modify the existing roof structure to allow for a mezzanine structure to be constructed below an existing sawtooth trussed roof structure. FIMMA conducted several initial inspections, concluding that the existing roof structure did not have the required clearance to cater for the proposed new mezzanine floor. In addition, the existing external brickwork required significant rectification and support works.

FIMMA proposed to introduce a new engineered steel structure within the existing walls which would provide sufficient headroom for the proposed new mezzanine floor and fit-out, while simultaneously providing support to the existing brick walls.

Following collaborative discussions with all stakeholders, our return brief was: to carry out a further detailed investigation; manage all design requirements; obtain all necessary authority permits; and then carry out construction of the new roof structure, roof and wall cladding and oversite of the internal fit out works by Wilson Groups contractor, Storco.
